THE LOCATION

Ballarat is well known for its abundance of parks and open space, including Lake Wendouree, the Botanical Gardens and Victoria Park as well as smaller areas of community open space.

Lake Wendouree and its continuous parkland fringe including the Botanical Gardens, features several significant buildings and sites.  These areas provide the Ballarat community and visitors to the city with invaluable heritage and recreational assets.

Whilst Ballarat was the setting for Victoria’s gold rush, it now plays host to an emerging laneway culture featuring artisan bakers, baristas, butchers and brewers.

Wander the streets and laneways in the Ballarat CBD and you will discover an abundance of cafes serving locally roasted coffee and an array of restaurants for wining and dining.  As a culinary capital of regional Victoria, residents and visitors to Ballarat are spoilt for choice when it comes to food and drink venues.  But you don’t need to venture to the CBD for your morning coffee as Lydiard Park is just a short walk to many local cafes in Ballarat North and Soldiers Hill.
